The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress was created by Congress in 1976 "to preserve and present American Folklife." The Center and its collections have grown to encompass all aspects of folklore and folklife from this country and around the world.

An association of more than 2,200 members and subscribers who are scholars, teachers, and libraries at colleges and universities; professionals in arts and cultural organizations; and community members involved in folklore work throughout the world. Arizona's Cultural Heritage Tourism -- Practical Applications
The Arizona Humanities Council has published a handbook for communities throughout the state about how to develop a cultural heritage tourism project or initiative. This workbook identifies issues to consider and offers step-by-step examples, many of them drawn from case studies. The authors believe cultural heritage tourism may not be appropriate for every community or institution; so many of the exercises here are designed to help communities make their own decision.
Arts Kentucky
Arts Kentucky is a statewide membership organization for individual artists, performers, craftspeople, community and arts groups. The Mission is to provide resources and tools for people who are working to improve their communities through the arts. The site has an excellent resources and links page. Members receive a weekly newsletter with information on available grants and art activities in the state. Arts Kentucky also operates the Kentucky Peer Advisory Network (KPAN), which provides professional assistance at low cost to not-for-profit arts organizations, community groups, or schools that provides arts and cultural programming. Association for Heritage Interpretation
Website for the Association for Heritage Interpretation (AHI) in England, which concerns itself with the promotion of cultural and heritage attractions. The value of this resource lies in the archive of journal articles, which cover a wide variety of themes including visitor centre design, accessibility, education, multimedia and more.
Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums
ALHFAM is the museum organization for those involved in living historical farms, agricultural museums, outdoor museums of history and folklife and those museums - large and small - that use "living history" programming. The site has Living History Links, which lists more than 80 international sites, as well as bibliographies, publication clearinghouse and white papers from conferences.

CARTS (Cultural Arts Resources for Teachers and Students)
CARTS is a project of City Lore, a cultural organization whose mission is to document, preserve and present the living cultural heritage of New York and other cities. The CARTS Catalog Is an online and mail order catalog offering over 150 multimedia resources in folklore, history, culture and the arts for integration across the curriculum. The resources section has a list of folk arts and folklife education resources of special interest to K-12 educators and students.
Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage
This center promotes the understanding and continuity of contemporary grassroots cultures in the United States and abroad. It produces the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, exhibitions, documentary films and videos, symposia, and educational materials. The Center conducts research, maintains archives, and provides educational and research opportunities.
Civil War Preservation Trust
The Civil War Preservation Trust is America's largest non-profit organization devoted to the preservation of our nation's endangered Civil War battlefields. The Trust also promotes educational programs and heritage tourism initiatives to inform the public of the war’s history and the fundamental conflicts that sparked it. One representative event has been selected for each state to highlight the many ways that Americans come together and celebrate their communities, heritage, and country.
