A form for kids to use at a festival to observe arts and crafts,
making them think about what medium is used, what art process is used,

Elements of Culture - social studies, elements of culture
core content
The activity has students look at elements of culture (language,
food, clothing, art, music, folktales, stories, and occupations) they
have observed at a festival and create a display board to share with
the rest of the school. Activities adapted from Appalachian

Factors of Production – social studies, economics core
content
Form students can use during a visit to festivals to understand the
economics of the crafts industry. Students look at specified items
for sale and examine the Factors of Production; Raw materials (natural
resources, recycled resources, purchased materials), Capital resources
(tools, equipment). Human capital (skills, knowledge, abilities), and
Marketing (packaging, distribution, pricing, and advertising).

Hunting for Herbs – science, social studies, language

Core Content for Fifth Grade in Kentucky
These are the concepts and terminology for the Arts and Humanities that are part of the big
test that students take in April so anything that festivals can do to
reinforce these aspects of the curriculum is helpful. Teachers are

Civil War Preservation Trust

The Civil War Preservation Trust is America's largest non-profit organization devoted to the preservation of our nation's endangered Civil War battlefields. Kentucky Archaeology
